Familiar to millions of people around the world as Downton Abbey, Highclere Castle is actually still a family home. The castle is as spectacular in person as it appears on TV, with grounds to match and a stunning high-ceilinged saloon and well-stocked library inside.
Weddings at Highclere Castle are solely at the discretion of the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, whose family have owned the estate for centuries, so getting married at Highclere isn't something that happens every day. Weddings aren't usually permitted in the summer months, so cosying up inside and enjoying the beautiful castle from the inside is the best option. With so many exceptional features, Highclere Castle is a wedding designer's dream!
Catering is managed in-house, however all other suppliers are up to the couple which leaves many options for personalisation.
If you've ever watched Downton Abbey in awe at the castle, the grounds and the rooms themselves, Highclere Castle lets you live that dream in the most special way possible - if you'd like to find out more or discuss getting married here then please do get in touch - we'd love to hear your story!
Highclere Castle is the family home of Earl and Countess of Carnarvon whom often use it to entertain throughout the summer months, especially July and August. This means that it's more likely to be available for weddings in spring and winter. With so much character inside, that isn't a problem at all - once you see the interior we're sure you'll agree!
Although there is no on-site accommodation available at Highclere, there are many options for local hotels including a five-star hotel nearby. There is however, an onsite suite for final preparations for the Bride or Groom.
