Syon Park is the home of the Duke of Northumberland and his family and is undoubtedly one of the best wedding venues in the UK. Between its ideal London location, variety of spaces (which just so happen to be rain proof, praise) and accommodation for your nearest and dearest there is a clear reason why it’s at the top of our recommendation list. Built in the 1500s and owned by the same family for over 400 years, Syon Park sits just west of London and has a fantastic mix of grandeur, beautiful indoor and outdoor settings, luxury accommodation and practicality.
Syon Park could be the perfect venue for you if you are looking to stay local to London while still having the aesthetic of an English country estate, with the added bonus of the Great Conservatory. There are also 5 beautiful rooms available to stay in for your closest friends and family, and other guests can stay in London or for the ultimate in convenience, at a Hilton hotel nearby. Additionally, if you have guests coming from abroad, being in close proximity to Heathrow airport is a big benefit.
While the Grand Conservatory works for weddings up to 120 guests, if you prefer the idea of a more intimate wedding with a focus on fine food, you could opt for either the Duke's Private Dining Room or the Green Drawing Room. Both are fabulous choices and hold up to 22 guests.
When one thinks of Syon Park, often the first thing that comes to mind is the Great Conservatory, and yes, it’s a beauty. An indoor space which is grand and provides natural light is a rare diamond and this has both in spades. However, before your guests reach the conservatory they'll be taken on a journey through the house, leaving each room to make its own unique impression. First stop, the Great Hall. This is where you will say 'I do,' in amongst the Roman-inspired columns and marble, a room as impressive as a real Roman Basilica. Next up is our personal favorite, the Long Gallery, a room lined with books on one side and windows on the other, inviting you to spend the afternoon gazing out over the lawn and the River Thames. Once the grand tour is complete, guests will mingle in the inner courtyard with fizz and canapés, before wandering across to the Great Conservatory where you'll all spend the evening together, wining, dining and dancing under the stars.
Despite being set in beautiful park land, the house is actually only about 10 minutes from the M4 motorway, on the western outskirts of London. This makes it incredibly practical, as your guests can stay in London itself or in one of the other cities further west, and still be within easy driving distance of your wedding venue. Being so close to big cities also means accommodation for people not staying on site is a breeze, with everything that London has to offer on your doorstep. And for those coming from abroad, Heathrow is a 20 minute taxi ride away.
