La Bastide de Gordes, part of the Airelles Collection, is one of the most desirable hotels and wedding venues in the world. Prepare to be swept away by its timeless charm and world-renowned hospitality as you and your guests experience the best Provence has to offer.
The building itself is the star of the show, but the views and its location in the heart of the village of Gordes come a very close second. Set into the cliffs overlooking the spectacular Luberon valley, the hotel dates back to medieval times and is designed accordingly. There are plump velvet armchairs, thick wooden beams and even suits of armour at every turn, and to complete the picture the staff even wear uniforms appropriate to the period. With a variety of spaces both indoors and out, a fantastic restaurant and scenery to die for, it's a place not to be missed the next time you're in Provence.
Follow along as we show you what a wedding at La Bastide de Gordes might look like...
The service is impeccable, from the moment you pull up to the front door the staff are attentive but not overbearing and will take care of anything you need
Despite being set into the cliffs, accessibility is not a problem. There’s a turning circle opposite the entrance to the hotel where a valet will look after your car and elevators to take you between floors in the hotel. The roads are also a good size so access by minibus or coach is manageable.
The option to privatise certain areas such as the terrace or half of the garden, without the necessity to also book hotel rooms, makes La Bastide de Gordes a very attractive option in Provence, where many wedding venues have a minimum two-night stay with any event booking.
The hotel has its own arcade and games room for children and babysitters can be brought in on request, so if you know you’ll have children at your wedding but you’d also like some peace and quiet at certain points, this can work really well.
With 34 bedrooms and 6 suites, La Bastide de Gordes is well suited for weddings and events which require accommodation for a large number of guests. There’s also a spa, complete with massage rooms and indoor swimming pool. If you prefer being outdoors, there are also two outdoor swimming pools, one of which in particular makes a fantastic setting for a welcome party or cocktail hour.
In terms of event spaces, full privatisation of the hotel is possible. If that’s more than you require, you can privatise half of the garden space and 8 bedrooms. This is a great option as the garden is a large, very useable space with the best views of the valley. It also comes with a backup plan in the form of the Orangerie, which sits next to the garden behind the arches. This space is also ideal for drinks and dancing later on in the evening.
The terrace is another option and a perfect spot for a drinks reception or welcome dinner, set as it is at the edge of the hotel right by the edge of the cliff. Eating underneath the stars with your family and friends cannot be recommended highly enough!

Sitting around 30 miles east of the city of Avignon, accessibility is nice and easy thanks to the fast TGV trains coming into Avignon from Paris, and with Marseille airport just one hour away by car. The village of Gordes itself is a delight, with a good selection of restaurants and shops and some of the most spectacular views in Provence.
